John takes inspiration from his Scottish and Celtic heritage.   He  combines with his life-long interest in ecology and engraves designs  and sayings onto wood that has either been locally grown on Arran or  is driftwood picked from the shore on his frequent walks with Tilly  the black Labrador. Mosaics are created using a mixture of beach  pottery and old plates from the island's charity shops.
